Seniors Home Supports Program

There is no place like home, but it can be physically challenging to keep up with tasks both inside and outside of our homes as one ages.   Could you use some help?

The Seniors Home Supports Program (SHSP) is a City of Edmonton/Family and Community Social Services (FCSS) program run through SWESA and five other senior centres in Edmonton, to support seniors living in their own homes.  SHSP is a directory service, providing seniors with the names of service providers who have registered with SHSP and agreed to adhere to program standards of reliability and good service.  The program mission is to ensure seniors can access quality, affordable home-support services from service providers.

There is no charge to seniors seeking referrals. The registry of service providers is developed from local service listings and recommendations from other seniors.  All service providers go through an intensive screening process. Vetted businesses are added monthly to our growing database.

“The Seniors Home Supports Program is a god send to me! It has relieved my stress and helped knowing I can call and receive referrals for small businesses who are thoroughly vetted and reasonably priced. I am 86-year-old senior living far below average income. I struggle each month to pay either my house insurance or utilities each month. This program is crucial for me to continue living in my home.  The Home Supports Coordinator is my safety line.”
